Show the lot, the setting, and everything a ground shot cannot.
Realty Studios flies drone photography and aerial video for Metro Vancouver listings to show the lot, roofline, setting and approach that a ground shot cannot. Our pilots are Transport Canada certified, and every flight follows Canada's drone rules: the pilot keeps the aircraft in visual line of sight, stays under the altitude limit and keeps a safe distance from bystanders.
Parts of the region, including much of Richmond and Vancouver, sit in controlled airspace around Vancouver International Airport and other airports, where each flight needs a NAV CANADA authorization, so we check your address before the shoot. If we cannot fly, the drone charge is removed. You can book aerial photo sets, aerial video or both, and wind or rain moves the aerial part to another day.
Acreage, view lots and anything where the surroundings are the selling point simply cannot be conveyed from the sidewalk. Aerials answer "what am I actually buying" in one frame.
Yes, our drone work is flown by Transport Canada certified pilots. In Canada, drones in the regulated weight range must be registered and flown by a pilot holding the certificate the operation requires, and we only fly where the rules allow it. We tell you before the shoot if your address rules a flight out. Add drone to a booking.
In controlled airspace, yes: each flight needs an RPAS flight authorization from NAV CANADA, and the pilot must hold the certificate that airspace requires. Outside controlled airspace, Transport Canada's general rules apply, including visual line of sight, the altitude limit and distance from bystanders. We check every address before the shoot. Book a drone shoot.
Areas near airports and busy harbours are the most restricted. Vancouver International Airport's controlled airspace covers much of Richmond and parts of Vancouver, the downtown waterfront has float-plane and helicopter traffic, and Boundary Bay, Pitt Meadows and Langley airports have their own control zones. See drone work in Richmond.
We remove the drone charge. We check the address against airspace rules before the shoot and tell you ahead of time rather than on the day. If a flight cannot be authorized, the rest of the shoot goes ahead and the drone line comes off your invoice. Start a booking.
Usually not without a permit. Municipal park boards, Metro Vancouver Regional Parks and BC Parks restrict launching and landing drones in their parks, so we plan take-off from the property or another permitted spot. Tell us at booking if the strongest view of the home is from public land. Add drone to your booking.
Yes, high wind and rain ground the drone. When that happens we reschedule the aerial part rather than deliver unusable footage, and the interior photography goes ahead as planned. A weather return visit is free, so the aerials simply move to their own date. See how weather affects delivery.
You can choose an aerial photo set, aerial video, or video combined with aerial photos. The larger photo set is designed for bigger lots and estate properties, and the video products are banded by property size. Each option shows its price for your property in the booking flow.
Drone photography starts at $175.99 before GST. The final price depends on whether you choose aerial photos, video or both, and on the size of the property for video. Your exact total appears in the booking flow before you confirm, and nothing is charged at booking. See drone prices.
